The World Alliance for Mercury-Free Dentistry has named Dr Shahriar Hossain, Secretary General of Environment and Social Development Organization-ESDO, Bangladesh, and Steering Committee Member of IPEN, a US based Global NGO Network, as its vice-president for South Asia, reports UNB.

The World Alliance for Mercury-Free Dentistry has named Dr Shahriar Hossain, Secretary General of Environment and Social Development Organization-ESDO, Bangladesh, and Steering Committee Member of IPEN, a US based Global NGO Network, as its vice-president for South Asia, reports UNB.
?We have selected Dr Shahriar Hossain at the most critical time in the history of the battle to get mercury out of dentistry,? Charles Brown, president, World Alliance for Mercury-Free Dentistry said, according to a press release received from Washington Wednesday.
?South Asia is a crucial arena for the transition to mercury-free dentistry, and we are delighted to have a man of Shahriar?s intellectual and social skills to be our advocate to the governments, the NGOs, and the people of the region,? UK dentist Graeme Munro-Hall, Chairman of the World Alliance?s Transition and Training Task Force, said.
The World Alliance for Mercury-Free Dentistry is coalition of NGOs on five continents whose primary mission is to secure a place for dental amalgam in that mercury treaty. It is organized with regional vice presidents and national chapters.
